WHAT GOD LOOKS LIKE
What God looks like is a good question? The Bible says that man was created in God’s image, in God’s likeness. Jesus said, “he that has seen Me has seen the Father.” Now, that’s one powerful statement! And believe it or not no matter what anyone has told you (with their words) or taught you (with their words) GOD’S Word tells us and teaches us that Jesus Is God manifested in the flesh. Today we trust radio, television, magazines, and newspapers to tell us what leading personalities are “really like.” If you want to know what God is “really like,” look at Jesus. God is just like Jesus. As for what God looks like in His pure natural state we do have some ideas which He reveals to us. For instance, the Bible tells us that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Also, that He dwells in light unapproachable. When Jesus (on the mountain) was transfigured before Peter, James, and John His face shone like the sun and His clothes became as white as the light. The disciples were terrified. All through the Bible every time a mere man came into contact with an angel they became frozen in fear. Have you noticed what the angels always say, “Fear not!”The Bible tells us that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. So, let’s just take a look at one of these created beings (an angel) and maybe just get a small glimpse of what God looks like. Here we go, ready? Let me set the scene. Daniel had been fasting and praying for 21 days. (3wks.) When all of a sudden an awesome angelic being of various colors and full of splendor appears. He’s wearing a belt of the finest gold around his waist, his arms and legs gleam of polished bronze in color. His face is like lightning and his eyes like torches of fire and his voice like the sound of a multitude. The men who were with Daniel overwhelmed with terror fled in fear and hid themselves as Daniel stood alone trembling. This is only Gabriel, just a messenger of God. No telling what Michael, a warrior of God looks like, who is the guardian angel of Israel.OK, OK, OK… I know, You came to this website to find out what God looks like! Here is the ONLY description of God that we have… I hope you’re not disappointedAnd again, picture the scene… Four “Living Creatures” identified as “Cherubim” (not angels) stood, one in the middle of each side of a square, their outspread wings touching at the corners of the square. Each cherub had four faces. There were four immense whirling wheels, one beside each cherub, full of eyes. This fourfold living creature moved like flashes of lightning from place to place, with noise like the roar of the ocean. Above the living creature was a crystal platform. On the platform, a throne of blue sapphire. On the throne, the likeness of a Man, enswathed in the glow of incandescent light, encircled in a rainbow. It was all set in a vast storm cloud, with whirling flashes of fire. This is the form in which God appeared to Ezekiel. It is the best description that we have of what God looks like. It signifies His glory, Power, Omniscience, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Sovereignty, Majesty and Holiness. Check out God’s attributesP.S. Did you know that no where in the Holy Bible does it ever describe an angel as having wings? I’m serious! Only cherubim and seraphim, which seem to belong to a higher order of celestial beings, are described as having wings. A cherub, which is singular, have four wings and seraphim, which is plural, have six wings.Angels, who visited men, always appeared in human form and were always accepted. Not until some supernatural manifestation, was their spiritual nature disclosed. Something to think about, huh?
