A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Can we know God? Oh yes..... ...and getting to know Him is the same way we get to know anyone else. Hmmmmm.....? First, we need to build a relationship with Him. Building a relationship with Him in the same way we would build a relationship with anyone else. When we meet a pretty girl or a good-looking guy, we want to spend time with them, we want to get to know them. We start asking questions about them, we find out where they live, we find out what they like and what they don’t like and as we ask around we might even find out what touches them and how to capture their heart. One of the differences of being in the presence of a pretty girl or good-looking guy, is that we see them, so we’re always reminded that we’re attracted to them. But… …since God is invisible we need to form a habit to remind us of His Presence. To remind us that He is there also. I know that we all have busy schedules in life but we both know that we would find the time to fit that good-looking guy or that pretty girl in our schedule, wouldn’t we? huh! C’mon…! Well, that’s the same thing we need to do with God. We need to find the time to fit Him into our busy schedule only, like I said, He’s invisible so we need to form a habit to remind us to spend some time with Him. Scientists pretty much all agree... ...that it takes about 21 days to form a habit. After about three weeks that formed habit just becomes natural to us. We don’t need to be reminded anymore. The reason why I’m telling you this is because until that habit becomes natural to us we need to make ourselves a reminder. Do what I do, write yourself a little note and put it by your alarm clock. Leave it there for about 21 days reminding you to read a couple of scriptures before you leave in the morning. God’s Word is spiritual food and we are a spirit being, with a soul, living in a body. Just like we feed our body everyday, we need to feed our spirit everyday. We also need to talk to Him. Prayer is just communicating with Him. Prayer is like calling home, everyday. Like any relationship, in the beginning we feel awkward, we feel uncomfortable. We don’t know what to say. We're lost for words and we're afraid that we might say the wrong thing. But believe me when we start showing interest in someone, especially in that certain Someone, that certain Someone WILL show interest back! When you get into the habit of praying everyday and spending time in His Word. It’ll all start to become natural to you. You won’t be forming a habit anymore you’ll be forming a relationship. You’ll start seeing changes, you’ll start seeing things happen and you’ll know that you know, that those things you see happening are not just chance, luck or coincidence. You’ll find out that those things happening is really Him touching you before you even get a chance to learn how to touch Him!
