GOD VS SATAN

God vs satan

When God created the angelic realm He took a calculated risk. He created lucifer with the greatest intelligence of any created being, endowed him and the other angelic beings with self-determination. God did not want robots. He wanted creatures who could respond to His love and have spontaneous fellowship with Him.

God believed it was worth the risk to create these beings with the ability to act independently of His will and have the choice of rejecting or obeying Him. Lucifer, realizing how beautiful he was, inflated with power and pride, rebelled against God. He broke his relationship with God when he said, "I will be like the Most High." But there wasn't and still isn't and never will be any God vs satan.

A great rebellion erupted throughout the universe at that time.

Lucifer led a revolution among the angels. We are told in Revelation 12 that one-third of the angelic realm followed lucifer in this revolt. After lucifer rebelled and became the first sinful creature, he lost none of his great intellect, beauty or power. He used this to entice many angels to join his ranks. However, he lost the one trait which would make him function correctly and that was a personal relationship with God.

When the perfect lucifer, the one who had authority over all of God's creation and walked in unity with God, became inflated with pride and fell from his high position, God's perfect universe became impure. Pollution entered in such a rush that God brought the greatest polluter of all time to trial and pronounced judgment upon him and all those angels who had revolted with him.

There was never no God vs satan. God simply judged the crimes of lucifer, changed his name to satan the devil and satan was sentenced to eternal banishment. In Matthew 25:41 it says that hell was created for the devil and his angels.

After God pronounced satan's judgment, His first act was to clear off one of the planets of the universe, beautify it and call it earth. This little planet was to become the arena of the mightiest contest of all time. God established a giant, complex research and development center where a strange creature called "man" was going to be tested. Man has the center stage now!

Ephesians 3 says that God is teaching "rulers and authorities in the heavenly places" (terms used only about angels, describing their rank and order) many things about Himself through man.

Doubtless God had many reasons for creating man

which we cannot fathom, but the following are primary. God wanted to prove His perfect love and to show the angelic beings who chose to stay with Him that He had been neither unjust nor unloving to satan and his followers by sentencing them to eternal banishment. God demonstrated this love to the fullest at the cross.

Another reason was to show the complete folly of choosing to reject God's will. And finally, God wanted to elevate man above the angelic realm and to fellowship with Him.

Hebrews 2:7 and Psalm 8:5 says that human beings were made ...a little lower than the angels, not evolved a little higher than apes (that's a whole different subject, sorry). Actually the word angels in both of these verses is translated from the Hebrew word 'elohim which is used all through the Old Testament to mean God. (The Greek Septuagint translates it as angels)

It would make more sense (to be made a little lower than God) since I Corinthians 6:3 says: "Do you not know that we shall judge angels?" And also man, not angels, were created in God's image and likeness. Man can create things like God, angels can't. For instance, God created light and so also, did man.

But getting back to the subject at hand...

...God vs satan, there is no such thing. As a matter of fact not only is there no such thing as God vs satan, there really is no such thing as man vs satan neither or even satan vs other angels!

In both Daniel 10 and in Revelation 12 the angel Michael kicks satan's butt and we also could throw in Jude 1:9.

As for man (children of God who know the truth) these scriptures come to mind.

Luke 10:20 ...do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it (the cross).

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Mark 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons.

So you see, there is no such thing as God vs satan. Man vs satan or satan vs other angels. Satan only rules over those who allow him to and I'm not on that list!

Revelation 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world

2 Corinthians 4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe
