1-2-3... F. A. I. T. H. FANTASTIC ADVENTURES IN TRUSTING HIM Cool Custom
68. Why is so much stress laid on the Lord's Supper and so little on foot-washing?
Because people have come to hold the spirit in more reverence than the letter. In Christ's time foot washing was a common act of hospitality performed by a servant.
In doing it himself for his disciples he took the servant's place. The command is obeyed by anyone who is willing to render a humble service to a brother for Christ's sake.
The words about the Lord's Supper, "ye do show the Lord's death till he come" (I Cor. 11:26), sufficiently explain why this loving memorial has survived.
